Last week we had four social entrepreneurs up for the vote, with HeathCliff Rothman coming out on top with two votes as the SE of the week. For those seeing this for the first time, the idea is to highlight social entrepreneurs I come across, put a bit of information up here about them and their projects, and let you vote on who you think is deserving of going to the next round. I'm going to try something a bit different this time, instituting a blog poll instead of asking people to write in the name of the person in the contacts. Hopefully this will get more votes. I'd still like to hear from you though about why you're voting for the person you vote for.

So, for this week ... Rothman moves up, but will he hang on and go to the next round?

*HeathCliff Rothman, a journalist turned social entrepreneur who founded Film Your Issue (FYI) in 2004. FYI gives young filmmakers the chance to showcase their best short-video work on social issues.

*Our second contestant for the week is Raj George, Founding Director
Cal State East Bay Small Business Development Center. George provides small business owners with the big business tools and training they need to successfully grow their business and contribute to economic development within their community, all while trying to hammer home the ethics of sustainability.

*Next up is Muhammad Yunus, called a 'microcredit missionary' by Business Week. Yunus runs Bangladeshlinks's Grameen Bank, a leading advocate for the world's poor that has lent more than $5.1 billion to 5.3 million people.

*From India, and someone whose project we've profiled here is Dr K Anji Reddy, founder of Naandi, which supports healthcare, education and community development in the Hyderabad area and is expanding across India.

*And finally, in South Africa, Trevor Field, a retired advertising executive, has dedicated himself to creating something called the "play pump" which is a children's merry-go-round that pumps clean, safe drinking water from a deep borehole every time the children start to spin. More here at PBS.

If this poll I'm inserting doesn't work, please vote in the comment section below again.
