Not Made in China

and wheat gluten (which they believe to be the cause of that pet food scare), because they have been deemed unsafe. In addition, Chinese consumers are worried about unsafe food products. Food additives, non-refrigerated delivery trucks, and unhygenic storage and sales practices are among their worries. China has also just recently passed a worker's rights bill, which some say would increase the cost of labor, and thus increase the cost of their exports.
My two cents
First of all, farmed fish are just plain horrible for your health anyways. Imagine a giant fish tank with thousands of fish - and no filter. Delicious thought, isn't it?
Nobody should be eating farmed fish, much less importing them. Some would then say, "bravo U.S.A., you're standing up for the health of your citizens," but I really don't believe that to be the case. The U.S. has far too much history in economic warfare to believe this to be anything short of precisely that.
All farmed fish have the same unhealthy effect on the human body - not just China's. In addition, there are zero reports originating from anyone besides the U.S. government stating the contaminated wheat gluten did in fact come from China. And isn't it funny that only pet food was contaminated, when wheat gluten is used in human food too?
Ripping apart biased news
So Chinese consumers are worried about their own food too, huh? Who isn't?! This isn't news. This is consistent in every country around the world, every single day. They just want you to be afraid to buy products made in China.
Also, the new labor laws in China will not in fact raise the cost of labor - for law abiding employers, at least. If your favorite Chinese import has recently risen in price, you can rest assured it's either price gouging, or being sold by a company breaking Chinese labor laws.
This is fear mongering economic warfare at its best, folks. Don't give it any credence.
