From OneWorld South Asia:

At a joint press conference on Thursday with the European Commission and international donors, senior government official of the Indian Ministry of Environment and Forests Prodipto Ghosh, said: "We had hoped for more Foreign direct investment and technology transfer under the CDM. We are not merely looking at the sale of technology but also the knowledge with complete rights so that we can do research and development on it and adapt it for our use."

The Indian government, the European Commission, along with international donor agencies - The World Bank, UK's Department of International Development, Germany's GTZ, Switzerland's SDC - and Indian environmental organization The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) are holding the International Conference on Adaptation to Climate Variability and Change in Indian capital New Delhi.

The aim is to sensitise government officials on climate change and exchange the latest information and impacts of climate change on India and its people, notable the marginalised sections like farmers and rural people.
