Handy tool for responsible consumerism
Filed in archive Books and Tools on October 28, 2007
Of all the things you use and have in your home, the last thing you have is time to see if every last item was produced in a socially responsible way. And since you can't expect pure honesty from the corporate website, it would take hours of research just to find out.
Fortunately, with a special Mozilla plugin, you can get all the facts from almost any corporate website. All you have to do is get the Corporate Snitch notifier, set up your preferences (such as whether you stand with or against companies opposed to abortion), and whenever you visit a corporate website, the CSNotifier will give you the full lowdown on the company.
Not to mention the Corporate Snitch website is an excellent resource too. I mean, who knew Arm and Hammer owns Trojan too - and does animal testing.
