There are composting systems, such as Envirolet, which would save you thousands over a septic system, and make remote locations a bit more bearable. Not only that, but your own excrement can be used to feed your farming soil (video), or even fuel your car.
These composting systems come in many different capacities, from powerless to battery to full electric, with switches to turn them off when you're not going to use it for extended periods of time. Even if it's always on, it will only cost you pennies a day.
Obviously, the faster your system can take care of the excrement, the more it can handle. They're really easy to install too. Just a ditch, a bit of plumbing, and a pipe out of your roof is all you really need. Then just compost it, and let nature do it's duty.
...and if you think this is a crappy post, well, I don't blame you.
