Can an army of social entrepreneurs save Africa?
Filed in archive Int'l Development on May 24, 2007
Remember that post on the AIDS pandemic in Africa - it looks like there just might be a solution on the way! It would take a massive effort, and that is exactly what PBS's Enterprising Ideas is going to document, starting Friday May 25th. Via Boing Boing.
From the looks of it, on their video preview, American businessmen are going to help African social entrepreneurs help the medical crisis, through franchising. Frankly, I think that is just about the only way anyone could make a dent in the massive problems over there.

Are you kidding? The reason Africa can't deal with HIV/AIDS and basic healthcare is precisely because of this kind of privatisation and outsourcing. Why has state health care collapse? Because the US and Europeans have enforced debt repayment and IP over people, using the Millenium Development Goals and international aid as weapons. This is just another example of northern neo-colonialism and sucking Africa dry. You should be ashamed.
