Cal Safety Compliance Corporation launches CSR blog
Filed in archive CSR on August 15, 2006
From Newswire Today:
In what is a first for corporate blogging, Cal Safety Compliance Corporation (CSCC), a leading provider of responsible sourcing services, has launched "Perspectives in Responsible Sourcing" to add its unique perspective to the myriad of voices on ethical sourcing and corporate social responsibility (CSR). The blog, which is modeled after newspaper editorials, will feature in-house experts as well as guest bloggers opining on everything from books and films to worldwide labor conditions and human rights. It can be accessed directly or through links on the company's homepage.
The company conducts over 12,000 factory audits per year, searching for issues such as child labor, non-compliance to laws on wages and hours, and violations to worker rights. This on-the-ground experience, in addition to the wide range of stakeholders CSCC works with, is what the company believes sets its blog apart from others. "We're in such a unique position as monitors," says Greg Gardner, Chief Executive Officer of CSCC. "We not only witness, firsthand, workplace conditions around the world, but we also work closely with retailers, NGOs, governments, academics, and a host of other stakeholders. We are privy to a really broad perspective of the problems we see on the ground."
