Social Enterprise

Haven't done this for a few weeks, basically since we had no votes in the last round of this "contest." It's really not much of a contest, but mainly to highlight social entrepreneurs and their work. So, if you have suggestions of people to include in these SE awards, please let me know.
Since we didn't have any votes (besides mine) from Round #3, I'm pushing HeathCliff Rothman up to this week again. Please vote for your favorite in the comments section below. I'd tried to put a poll in the last blog post, but it doesn't work with our configuration here.
*HeathCliff Rothman, a journalist turned social entrepreneur who founded Film Your Issue (FYI) in 2004. FYI gives young filmmakers the chance to showcase their best short-video work on social issues.
*Nick Baxter, head of Cornerstone Community Care in Aberdeen, Scotland and a former winner of a "Social Entrepreneur of the Year" award.
*Gillian Caldwell, executive director of Peter Gabriel's Witness, an organization that helps small organizations around the world use video to assist in human rights advocacy. More on Caldwell at Global X on The Edge.
*Mark Earnden, who runs something called ExpoChef that provides demonstrations on how healthy eating and cooking can be easy, fun and affordable.
*This might be the ringer for this week. Sunette Pienaar, founder and Chief Executive of Heartbeat, which helps care for orphans and small children in South Africa, was selected as the "Social Entrepreneur 2006" at the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum on Africa held in cape Town on 31st May 2006.
So there are five for you to choose from this week ... please vote, make suggestions, or offer commentary as you see fit.

Mark me down as a vote for Gillian -- Witness does some great stuff. If only I didn't have Peter Gabriel tunes wafting through my head right now. Ah well, it's worth the trouble to give Witness a bit of public props.

Gillian gets my vote. Just saw a presentation at the Global Philanthrophy Forum in DC and it was powerful.

You should check out the Sager Family Foundation and Roadshow. Their website is under construction, but there is something there to see. Bobby takes his family on the road 10 months of the year living with the villages he supports. We met him in Scottsdale this year at a conference and were impressed with his approach to philanthropy.
