Audeamus: Full of "Savageness Flavor"
Filed in archive Personal on October 11, 2006
I don't have any other blogs anymore so don't really have a place to put odd stuff I come across. So I decided to do it here. I'm not sure if you can read this or not, but look at the ingredients in this 'Seaweed Sesame biscuit' from China, produced by the alarmingly titled 'Sweet Garden Biotechnology Food' company. My wife noticed this. She's a translator (English/Mandarin) so she looks at these things ...

Can you see where it says 'Savageness Flavor'? Try clicking the photo to make it bigger.

They actually mean 'natural flavor' ... which struck my wife as odd because the straight translation of the Mandarin should come out as natural flavor. Some creative writing going on somewhere.

Maybe they really meant 'savageness flavour'. Does it have a kick?

I was eating these cookies today, and noticed the same thing. I was, naturally (or shoudl I say, savagely, alarmed, but thankfully, a colleague pointed me to your site and I can now continue munching away in peace.
