A Big News Roundup ...
(Pic from Grow a Brain)

Okay, so I know I'm turning into Sir Linksalot here but that will have to do for today and the near future until I can come up with ideas on how to make this blog work a bit better and not have to spend a ton of time on it knowing that I have other work to do that will keep me in clothing.

So, you're Sir Linksalot news drop for the day (some interesting pieces nonetheless):

*Timbuktu Chronicles points to coverage of an man from ethiopia who is turning mortar shells into coffee machines.

*One Laptop Per Child News has word that Brazil has made an order, while in Thailand the recent military coup has thrown a wrench in the works.

*IBM Philippines wins an award for CSR.

*Tourism's role in development in Nepal at Peace Journalism. Similar notes sounded about Zimbabwe.

*At the Toronto Star, a profile of Rick Hansen and a look at his 20-year pursuit for a cure for spinal cord injuries.

*The Unitus Equity Fund L.P., which recently got the backing of Bill Gates, announces an investment fund in Credex MFI in Mexico to a tune of $1mil.

*Oxfam to Bush: Skip a meal.

*Librarians injured by mob in Cuba, via Friends of Cuban Libraries.

*A summit on the 'Green Revolution in Africa' or the hypothetical one anyway, upcoming in Indiana.

*Uganda ... a war against children.
